The Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program is one of the largest and most generous R&D incentive programs in the world. Over $4.5 billion is submitted to companies undergoing some sort of R&D in Canada. However, many companies might not realize that they are under claiming and others don't realize that they qualify.

A large number of companies mistakenly assume the program is meant to encourage only 'high tech' companies or science based firms. The program is not meant to benefit only companies that have employees wearing lab coats, but it is meant for any company that is undergoing a form of technological advancement. In general, if you are engaged in solving technological problems for which a solution is not readily apparent, there is a good chance that the work you are doing is fully or partially eligible for SR&ED credits.
